I completed my doctoral work in May of 2017. My dissertation research focused on how digital mediations of trauma enable meaning making. This research uses feminist theory, disability studies, and media studies to explore how meaning is produced in micro-political ways on social media platforms. The upcoming book project built from this work will expand the theoretical framework developed here to understand and recognize how trauma is a useful lens in examining media, meaning making, and mundance resistance that has impacts for identity politics and larger geopolitics.
